Spring 2020 Wednesday, January 29th Introduction to the Literacy edTPA 7:15-8:15 438 Horace Mann Guiding Questions: What are the basic components of the literacy edTPA? How do they all hang together around a single 3-5 lesson teaching experience? Key Task Between 1/29 and 2/25: Connect with your Cooperating Teacher to identify a reading OR writing mini-unit (3-5 lessons) that you could take on for your edTPA. Ideally, this mini-unit is scheduled to take place sometime between March 3rd and April 7th. Tuesday, February 25th Backwards Mapping Your Literacy edTPA 7:15-8:45 433 Horace Mann Guiding Questions: How does the edTPA define literacy strategies, literacy skills, language functions, vocabulary, syntax, and discourse? And how can we plan for each one from the start? Key Task Between 2/25 and 3/3: Refine the components of your literacy edTPA, using our graphic organizer tool. Tuesday, March 3rd Lesson Plans for Your Literacy edTPA 7:15-8:45 433 Horace Mann Guiding Activities: Sketch out 3-5 lesson plans that will teach students your chosen literacy strategy, and plan an assessment that will let you know whether or not they are successfully applying that strategy by the end of the learning segment. Key Task Between 3/3 and 4/7: Teach (and film) your learning segment. Be sure to capture footage of yourself modeling the literacy strategy, as well as footage of yourself supporting students as they apply the literacy strategy. You will submit two film clips as part of your edTPA.
